Cape 2 Rio 2014 Race Chairman, Vitor Medina, is currently in Rio de janeiro, on behalf of RCYC, re affirming our relationship with late clube de Rio de Janeiro and Commodore Simao. Pictured here, Vitor is presenting Commodore Simao with our Burgee, and an RCYC club shirt and tie.
Vitor will be in Rio until the 15th March not only promoting the race but establishing the necessary contacts to assist is the race finish, the arrival of finishing yachts, the prize giving function, the mooring of boats, the contacts of chandlers and supply of victuals, the packing of yachts to be shipped back to Cape Town, and so the list goes on. He’s got his work cut out for him, but, has managed to fit in some sailing.
During his stay this weekend Vitor enjoyed a sail in the 93 year commemorative regatta at ICRJ on a Class 40 double handed boat. “Great fun.”
Vitor is currently on his way to Florianopolis, to secure entries from three interested yacths there and to be on the look out for potential hosts for our future race.
