The #Cape2Rio2020 race is proud to present the Royal Cape Yacht Club’s Round Robben Island Freedom Race on 12 January 2019.
What better way to start off the New Year than a sail in one of the most beautiful bays in all of the world, at the foot of Table Mountain, and around the world famous UNESCO World Heritage of Robben Island, which was for so long a place of incarceration for the late Nelson Mandela, and is now a symbol and celebration of the freedom, democracy and unity of the new South Africa?
We invite you to enter your boat to race, or cruise, or simply enjoy the spectacle of this incredible event. We will be using footage from this race, and especially the 11am mass start to promote the next Cape to Rio race.
If you have any questions about Cape2Rio2020, we invite you to a brief question and answer session at 9am in the morning before the race, which will be video recorded and published on this Facebook page.
There will be participation prizes for every boat that sails, and the line honours time record held by Vulcan will be under threat from boats like Cape Fling II, Nitro and the Cape 31’s.
Make Cape2Rio2020 your bucket list event next year!
