We were also honoured to have a visiting lady Commodore from TSC, MaryAnn Sharwood skippering her team on Necessity; A ladies team from Hermanus Yacht Club as well as a young ladies team coming round the mountain from Izivunguvung Sailing Centre in SimonsTown; A national lady race officer, Di Hutton Squire skippered her team on Hill Billy in the spinnaker class. Of course we can not forget to mention our elite competetive lady sailors in the mix, Olympic South African Sailors Dominique Provoyeur (on Alliance Francaise) and Penny Alison (on Vulcan), ISAF World Hobie 16 Champion sailor, Inga Schabort (also on Vulcan), Western Province lady champion Jennifer Burger on Lapwing, Shelly Castle (ne Polson, on Vulcan) ex Hobie World Champion, Calend Loubser represented SA at the ISAF Youth Worlds, Sabine on Yacht Carousel a world champion 470 sailor …. phew! … and what an international mix of ladies from France, Canada, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Austrailia, UK, Scotland and of course South Africa.

Our RCYC Lady Race Officer of the day, Martina Schmidt put together separate courses for the spinnaker class start at 14h00 and the non spinnaker class start at 14h05. With reports of a 10 knot south wester blowing out in the bay, the westerly course was chosen and the conditions proved almost perfect with a real mix of everything from holes of no wind, to a strong 20 knot south easter at the Harken Mark.

First across the line team Vulcan, with a very proud Hylton Hale watching over his team in the 8 boat spinnaker fleet, and first over the line in the 15 boat non spinnaker fleet was a well accomplished skipper owner Heidi Kavanagh.

Overall Winners of the Spinnaker Class Alliance Francaise with team skipper Dominique Provoyeur, sailed exceptionally well and was determined to defecnd her title from last year.

Overall winners in the non spinnaker class was visiting team Hermans Yacht Club on Yacht Ambeloui with team skipper Dale Rae/Jacqui Louw
