The leading sailing and lifestyle clothing supplier, Helly Hansen, will come aboard as an official apparel partner of the Royal Cape Yacht Club for the 2015 / 2016 Lufthansa Twilight series season.
Twilight racing is a global tradition honoured at the Royal Cape Yacht Club. Starting on 14 October, a flotilla of yachts will again be seen on Wednesday summer evenings in Table Bay.
Helly Hansen is one of the world???s premier sailing and lifestyle clothing brands, and they are delighted to announce a new partnership with the Royal Cape Yacht Club from the start of the 2015/16 sailing season.
Helly Hansen are now the official apparel partner of the Twilight Series, offering not only Helly Hansen vouchers as prizes for the popular midweek series, but also apparel for RCYC members and merchandise for the RCYC team.
Their most recent impact on the South African sailing scene was over the Cape Town stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race, where they were seen as official sponsors of the ???darlings??? of the 2014/15 Volvo Ocean race, the ladies of Team SCA.
The brand has a rich heritage.
The story of Helly Hansen started in 1877, when after many years at sea, Norwegian captain Helly Juell Hansen and his wife Maren Margarethe began producing oilskin jackets, trousers, sou’westers and tarpaulins, made from coarse linen soaked in linseed oil.
In 1980, the Helly Tech technology was launched, with apparel now both waterproof and breathable. This meant that anyone who participated in high-activity outdoor sports could expect their clothing to work with them, not against them. It is now the brand of choice for many adventurers who spend their time between human will and nature???s forces, and demand full protection and performance when the conditions are at their worst.
Helly Hansen???s range includes a casual selection for fair-weather summer sailing, as well as technical gear that will stand up to anything that the RCYC???s playground, Table Bay, throws at the teams during those heavy weather days.
Helly Hansen gear will be available from the Harken Store at 46 Marine Dr, Paarden Eiland, Cape Town, at This Way Out Shop @ 16 Buiten Street, Cape Town (opening Mid-November 2015) as well as on the last Wednesday of each month during the Twilight Series racing at RCYC.
