With this letter you will find all the details that are needed to join with us in celebration of the first two hundred year of the Royal Yacht Squadron.
We have planned a week of challenging on the water activities and numerous spectacular social gatherings to compliment them. These will take place in the evenings after the sailing has finished both at the Castle and other notable venues nearby. There are different sailing events planned to both attract and test the many disciplines that your sailing members will enjoy. There are social gatherings where you can meet your fellow sailors from around the world.
We have two boat Team racing in J80s for the younger members. We have Corinthian one design fleet racing for the members and their family that will take place in an evenly matched fleet of Farr designed Beneteau 40s and we have IRC fleet racing for the many racing yachts that your members either own or charter which will include a Race Around the Island. This latter fleet will consist of modern race yachts, cruiser racers and some spectacular classic yachts from many different decades and many different designers. Some of these yachts will have just completed the Transatlantic TR2015 race that we are running in conjunction with the New York Yacht Club, the Royal Ocean Racing Club and the Storm Trysail Club. The fleet will be varied and competitive. The sailing will be memorable I’m sure.
We have already received considerable interest from around the world from sailors who wish to come and help us celebrate this special occasion in our history. We have as a result of this interest felt it prudent to restrict the number of yachts to two hundred only (not including the J80 yachts) to enable us to provide the level of support both on and off the water that you would expect of our Club.
