Molly Warr

Updated:

There will be a wake held at RCYC on Wednesday 9th July at 1700.

RCYC have just heard the very sad news that well known RCYC lady sailor Molly Warr has passed away. The Warrs were very prominent in sailing circles over many years. She died last Friday following a stroke, and poor health over a number of years. Molly skippered a small boat, Sprinter, in the first Rio Race, and one of her crew was her daughter, Cheryl. Her husband, Ken, who died a few years ago, also skippered a Rio entry, (Omaramba) and he won many, many races here and abroad. Their last boat was Warrfair, a Farr 38 which they owned together, and sold to Johan van Rooyen when they got too old to maintain it. The name was then changed to Al, and it has not stopped winning!
They were both great personalities, each one in their own right, but she was the feisty competitor! She will be missed, especially by the older club members who remember her.
Thank You CP van der Merwe for the report.
