BIG thank-you to Trevor Wilkins for sharing his photo’s with us.

The skippers and crews of the 22 yachts of the World ARC 2012-13 fleet are gathering in Cape Town this week, in preparation for their restart to Saint Helena and Brazil on Saturday. The crews have a get together at the Club on Thursday evening and a skippers briefing and clearances out on Friday. The start is at 1100 on Saturday 05 January, preferably using the RCYC Race Hut. Other options towards the RCYC Woodbridge mark may have to be used. RCYC members are invited to spectate on the water.

The event typically involves up to 35 yachts and 200 crew members during the 15 month east to west circumnavigation. This is the third visit of World ARC to Cape Town which currently sets off every two years. However, from 2014-15 onwards, the event will visit Cape Town annually. The event website, including fleet tracking, stories and photos can be found at www.worldcruising.com/world_arc/event.aspx
