SUMMARY:Wednesday Winter Talks
DESCRIPTION:Cape Town to Nantucket: Things we wish we knew before we left\, and a few lessons learnt on our four-year cruise \nOn Wednesday\, 24 June at 18h00 in the Main Hall\, Andrew Henshilwood will share the remarkable story of his family’s four‑year adventure at sea. \nTogether with Siobhan and their daughter\, Laura\, the Henshilwoods set sail aboard Calypso\, a Montevideo 43 they painstakingly refitted themselves. From crossing the Atlantic via St Helena to exploring the Caribbean and the US East Coast\, their journey was filled with challenges\, triumphs\, and unforgettable lessons. \nAlong the way\, the family discovered that the true mark of a successful cruiser lies not only in seamanship but in teamwork\, adaptability\, and the willingness to learn. \nThis talk blends practical advice with candid storytelling\, perfect for anyone curious about long‑distance cruising\, boat preparation\, or simply inspired by the courage to cast off and chase new horizons. \n  \nAll members and guests are welcome.
