Good day everyone my name is Abulela Natasha Jack, I am also known as Natasha. I am 17 and I was born here in Cape Town. I grew up in a very big township called Khayelitsha. In 2015 I was doing grade 7 and that was when my mother took a form of Emagqabini Education Academy from our local library, because I was struggling in my Maths and needed assistance.
The high school that I applied at had rejected me, because I did not meet with their requirements and the high school that had accepted me, which is the one I am currently attending, I did not like because of the rumours I had heard. So my goal that year was that Emagqabini assists me and I get the good marks and get into the high school that I wanted.
Unfortunately I did not change schools, because I grew to love the school and the opportunities it presented. Emagqabini assisted me and I actually got the good marks which I had never imagined that I would get. Emagqabini also showed me that my life does not end in Khayelitsha and that I should stop limiting myself. While still attending Emagqabini, every Saturday an opportunity of being involved in a sport called sailing prevailed itself to me.
Natasha joined Academy 2017 and since then she has blossomed. She completed a Competent Crew, a STC-W safety courses, and most recently a dinghy sailing course at ZVYC
