ORC South Africa 2019 – 2020
Thank you for your support of the ORC Club platform in South Africa for the past season, and for playing a valuable role in realising the unifying concept of a single credible national keelboat rating system.
To renew your certificate for the certificate year 1 July 2019 – 30 June 2020, please pay the renewal fee of R750, with the reference of your sail number and boat name as they appear on your certificate, to the following bank account, and email your request to renew to
|Bank Account Details|
This should be a relatively painless and straightforward process…
Your rating certificate clearly defines the measurements and limits of your sail inventory, rig, hull and appendages, and crew weight limits. Please check your certificate carefully and rectify any errors or undeclared items to ensure you conform to your certificate while racing.
If you have made any measurement changes to your boat, you can include these in your request to renew and they will be included on your new rating. Please make sure measurements are verified by a credible third party. A list of accredited measurers in your area is available on request.
If your boat is classified as “IMS Division: Cruiser/Racer” on your certificate, please ensure it conforms to the requirements of the IMS Cruiser/Racer definitions in the IMS Rule – Appendix 1. For example, if any items inside your boat, like saloon tables, door to heads, mattresses and standard accommodation have been removed, your boat does not qualify as a Cruiser/Racer.
If you have any doubts or queries, please don’t hesitate to ask us! Please also feel free to give any constructive feedback you may have on the system and its implementation in South Africa.
We look forward to strong turnouts in the upcoming season for some hard, close and fair racing on the water; with plenty of fun, warmth and camaraderie off the water. Here’s to showcasing the best of South African keelboat racing together!
