Puma Twilight Overall Prize Giving

Puma Twilight Overall Prize Giving

Puma Twilight Overall Prize Giving took place in the Main Hall last night, followed by the final Race 9 of the series.

31 boats took to the water  last night for a great evening sail, in a flat sea, but with a strong 25 knott south east. Vulcan and A-L were on top form in Division 1, for full Race Results see Race9 9999

Commodore, Dale Kushner, thanked Puma for the two series sponsorship that they have been involved in with RCYC over the last two and half years. Sadly RCYC said thank you and goodbye to Puma, and we handed over a traditional plaque of Appreciation to Alexander Hully of Puma.

Our Gencom and Sailing Committee member, Luke Scott, took us through some statistics from the Puma Twilight Series, one of the most interesting was the announcements of four boats, who took part in every single Puma Twilight Race since October 2011 until now.

These boats,

A-L Robbie Van Rooyen

Alliance Francaise – Alexandre Monat

ELS Farmed- Vitor Medina

and Carousel – Luke Scott

were recognised with thanks to their committment to the series with a bottle of Bubbles and a model of Puma Mar Mostro Volvo Ocean Boat.

A total of 102 boats took part in the four Puma series, the biggest fleet being Divsion 3 with 31 boats sailing in it.

Huge Congratulation to the Over All winners in each of the five Divisions. Photograhed below:

Division 1 Spinnaker – Hylton Hale and Johnny Cullum with their Team Vulcan

Division 1 Non Spinnaker – Robbie Van Rooyen with his team on A-L

Division 2 Spinnaker – David Booth on Necessity, photographed here with Toni Mainprize, event organiser.

Divison 2 Non Spinnaker – RCYC Commodore Dale Kushner on Yolo

Division 3 – Yacht Phantom owned and skippered by Tom Connell

This awesome series comes with a small once off entry fee, which we have the pleasure of handing over to the NSRI as a donation each year.

Here we were honoured to have Mark Hughes, Executive Director of Operations, receive our cheque. Handed over by Hylton Hale from RCYC and Alexander Hulley from Puma.
