Competent Crew Course Certificates

Within a short space of time, since we resumed our activities at the Academy, we have managed to send eight students to do a competent crew course with Alex Mamacos together with our Senior Instructor Sibu Sizatu.   Raafiq Erasmus, Thoko Lusawana, Siphelele Gayeka, Buhle Majava, Yonela Mkaza, Natasha Jack, Cameron Peters and Wanda Rala Rala all completed their competent crew course.

Sibu recently completed a Mast Climbing course at the Cape Point Sailing Academy in Simon’s Town. We are now firming up the plans to send the last four remaining students to complete their competent crew course.

Learn to Sail accreditation awarded
After many months of activity and communication with South African Sailing, RCYC Sailing Academy is finally a SA Sailing Recognised Training Centre. This means that RCYC Sailing Academy is now able to offer an accredited Learn to Sail program for our new sailors which in turn is recognised by World Sailing. The excited Academy team is pictured here with SAS Instructor Developer, Neil Ashton, during the final inspection, standing in the middle of the group.
