Royal Cape Performance Circuit 2024/25
February 8, 2025 - February 9, 2025
Announcing the “Royal Cape Performance Circuit 2024/25”
For the past seven years the Cape 31 Class has run during the summer a series of race days, race weekends and 3-day regattas. These typically involve three windward-leeward races a day, starting at noon with a target time of 45 minutes for each race, and have been hugely popular within the class.
Recently we’ve had requests from some other boats for this type of racing, in addition to our more broadly popular club courses.
This summer, in an experimental joint venture with the Cape 31 Class, we are offering all RCYC boats looking for short-course windward-leeward racing the opportunity of joining any or all of the events on the Cape 31 program under the umbrella of the “Royal Cape Performance Circuit”.
The 2024/2025 dates for the events in the Circuit are:
19 & 20 October Race weekend – 3 WL races per day
16 & 17 November Race weekend – 3 WL races per day
30 Nov & 01 Dec (Cape Performance Cup for C31s)
8 February Race weekend – 3 WL races per day
Boats may enter races in the Royal Cape Performance Circuit via the RCYC Sailing Office. The Cape 31 2024/2025 Sailing Instructions will apply. These will be published on the Cape 31 Website https://sa.cape31.com/sa-notice-board/ no later than 18 October 2024.
It’s important to note that, for the Club class, each day is a standalone race day. Scores wont be accumulated over the various days. So boats can join as they please for a specific day.
We hope that our sport boats – the Pacers, Avanti 26 and Jiwo – and as many as possible of our other high-performance boats will make the most of this opportunity to enjoy some intense championship-style racing this season.
To enter please email the sailing office sailadmin@rcyc.co.za
