The history of The Ohlsson Cup

The trophy was gifted to the then-Table Bay Yacht Club (TBYC) in 1906 by Mr. O. A. Ohlsson with the stipulation in the Deed of Gift that the trophy was to be awarded to the winner of a race held around Robben Island.  The inaugural race for the Ohlsson Cup took place in 1906 and was won by Mr. J. A. Jones, owner of the boat Patricia”
