A Gala Party was held at the Italian Ambassador’s Residence in Bishopscourt on Saturday evening for all boat owners who had entered. What a beautiful evening it was, out on the lawn, with Italian food made by Italian Chefs flown in from Italy.
On Sunday the race was scheduled to start at 12h00. However with the strong wind prediction of 30 knots gusting 45 knots, the Race Committee took the decision to move the whole event 2 hours earlier in order for us to get a race in. And what a stunning race it was with the fleet flying across Table Bay.
A very big thank you to David Abromowitz who entertained the Ambassador and guests in exquisite style, while promoting our local boating builders on a beautiful Leopard 53’ Power Cat named Marauder. Marauder belongs to one of our new Club members, Stuart Hilcove. A big thank you must also go to John Martin who entertained further VIP guests on his beautiful 57’ Princess Motor Yacht Antares. Thank you David, Stuart and John for your continued support which is very much appreciated.

The prize giving was held in the Regatta Centre with complimentary Italian pasta meals for all competitors, guests and supporters. It was fantastic to see everybody enjoying the festivities and food which was prepared by Chef Georgia and our own in house Chefs Chad and Justin.
A special thanks to all our members who supported this great initiative and a very big thank you to the Italian Ambassador Paolo Cuculi, the Italian Consulate, Italian Embassy and to all sponsors, New Holland, Southern Wind, Abromowitz, Sharp and Associates, Ignazio Messina & Co, Morgenster Wine Estate, Dalla Cia Wine Estate, Puglia, Giovanni’s, Crystalite Stone Bathrooms, Wilderer Distillery, Poetic License and Rialto.
To round off a brilliant day Ambassador Cuculi presented a cheque for R81 600, the total of all donations received, to Lindani our RCYC Academy Manager. We are delighted to announce that on Monday this amount was increased to R88 000.
